I remember as a little kid, playing on my cousin’s Commodore Pet. Using Basic, we’d make these little stick men run, shoot, jump. I guess those were my first frame by frame animations, since I don’t remember ever doing a flip book.

Later on video games introduced me to the concept of side scroll animations and things like that. I use that concept in so many of my favourite little animations. Look out Star Trek copyright infringement.

Using GIMP as often as I do, I learned how to make gifs, and it’s so useful. Even the header on this web page, the fluorescent tubes the gears and pumps, all done in GIMP.

I drag them into imovies and add any audio, while converting them to mp4…Et voila.
